Your tour will start with a stroll in Saint Paul de Vence along the pedestrian only cobblestone streets to see the spectacular view over Cannes and the Mediterranean, and the magical light that inspired the Impressionists and Post-Impressionists who were drawn to this hilltop town. Visit La FondationMaeght Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art , and explore the trendy boutiques, art galleries and artists’ studios which fill this town. For lunch, we will recommend a one or two stared Michelin restaurant.
After lunch, on your way to Antibes, you will visit the picturesque town of Biot, which is famous for its glassworks. Perched up high in the mountains overlooking olive trees and mimosas, Biot dates back to 154 BC.
Next you’ll discover the beauty and history of Antibes. Founded by the Greeks more than 2000 years ago and shortly thereafter annexed by the Roman Empire, Antibes then languished in obscurity until the European bourgeoisie of the 19th century rediscovered the many charms of this seaside town. Visit the Picasso Museum in the house where the artist lived and worked, and learn about his ceramics and paintings. Explore Roman aqueducts, fortified seawall, forts, chateaux and magnificent mansions.
