As the mist rises above the Ciron River, which separates Barsac and Sauternes, its Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle grapes are affected by Botrytis cinerea, also known as “noble rot”. This causes the grapes to become partially raisined, resulting in concentrated sugar and distinctively flavored sweet wines that have made the name Sauternes world renowned. Enjoy the unique sweet  wine of Sauternes in spectacular chateaux throughout the region, and over a wonderful lunch.
